I am the kind of person who likes to throw myself into everything I do with 100% dedication and enthusiasm. I have a 5-year-old son, Brendan, who is my absolute heart and soul, the joy and sunshine in my life. He reminds me to look at everything with the innocence and excitement of childhood, which is an incredible gift. I am married to the man that, at age 16, I knew would one day be my husband, and after 7 years of marriage we are still each other’s best friend. I am an elementary school special education teacher, a job which challenges and inspires me every single day. I currently serve as the Troop Organizer for the state of New Jersey in the Love/Avon Army of Women, a volunteer position for an incredible organization which seeks to end breast cancer by finding its cause, instead of the cure. I am also a runner, having completed my first half-marathon in June and getting ready for another this May; and a walker, having walked the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure 7 times (gearing up for #8 in Philly in 2011!). Until May, 2009, I walked because it was an incredible experience, but not because breast cancer had in any way touched my life. That changed when my college roommate and best friend was diagnosed at the young age of 32. Thankfully, her story has a happy ending. Her three children still have their mother, and the rest of us are blessed to have an amazing friend/wife/daughter/sister still in our lives.
Now I blog about my adventures in 3-Day training, as well as the humdrum of my daily life with my wonderful family. Thanks for finding me!
